If you’re looking for a cool and understated vintage Rolex sports watch, then maybe the 1016 is the model for you.

The Explorer has been present in the Rolex catalogue for 70 years since its introduction in 1953 and today we have an example of the rarest of the matte dials for the reference 1016, the Mk2. With its crisp white text and cream coloured tritium lume on the iconic three-six-nine quarters, we’re not sure it gets better than this with matte 1016s!

The 36mm steel case is really strong all round, with thick lugs. The Mk 2 matte dial features cream hued tritium lume on the 3-6-9 numerals and is in excellent condition. The hands are a nice match with the dial.
The watch will come on a nice Bulangandsons strap and as you can see here we have nice alternatives for these over .
